Quick Jottings of Notes (Working Title)

Huge Time Savers
- Knowing what not to do
- Go deep rather than wide. Start wide though to increase surface area (increase luck and engage with more “water + problems”)
- Stand on the shoulders of giants, use things from the community and world. Getting better at evaluating things is good
Failure Modes on Speeds
All canonically grouped under “not re-scoping” (“another” one (not me) might call this overloading) but worth articulating as independent causes:
- Perfectionism. NIH syndrome. Anxiety or fatigue. Wanting to do things “smart” versus well.
- Just let it go and refocus. This sometimes means a walk, this always means stop hitting the hammer with the wrong side if things don’t work. Don’t stop hitting the hammer though. Flip the side.
Meta Skills That Make You Faster
- Self awareness
- Don’t give a fuck
- Humility and know what you suck at
- Radical responsibility and brutal honesty, being well calibrated
None of this matters if you are not focused, and it is possible to be fast (truly fast not “fast”) on the wrong things, but focus is separate, perhaps not fully independent idea. Velocity is measured in straight lines and getting faster at running is good even if you are running in the wrong direction. Of course, as they always have, outcomes matter.
Helpful as always, impatience and focus.
